Exciting Updates from Copake Veterinary Hospital
Dear Friends, Family, and Valued Clients,
I am reaching out to share several exciting updates regarding the latest happenings at
Copake Veterinary Hospital, as well as some wonderful changes on the horizon.
Welcoming Dr. Lauren Scanlon
First, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lauren Scanlon to our practice starting May 18th.
Dr. Scanlon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in veterinary medicine and
will be a fantastic complement to our existing team. Please join us in welcoming her to
our practice and our community!
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had several highly qualified applicants for this
position — especially in an era where many veterinary practices are struggling to find
new doctors. I believe this is a testament to the quality of care we provide to our
patients and clients, as well as the wonderful team of individuals we have built here at
Copake Vet.
Transitioning to Electronic Records
Second, we will be transitioning to a new electronic medical record system starting next
week. This system is designed to help us operate more efficiently and effectively. We
ask for your patience over the next month as we move from paper records to electronic
charts.
In the long term, this program will allow us to provide more easily accessible medical
records and, eventually, allow us to seamlessly provide digital discharge instructions
and information sheets.
Enhancing the Exam Room Experience
As part of this transition, you may have already noticed our staff utilizing tablets in the
exam rooms to collect patient histories. While we are embracing new technology, I
never want a screen to come between myself and a client or patient.
To ensure we stay focused on your pets, we are utilizing a transcription service on these
tablets. This allows our assistants, technicians, and doctors to generate comprehensive
notes, exam findings, and treatment plans in real time without being tethered to a
keyboard.
By reducing the time spent on manual record-keeping, we can capture the full totality
of our interactions and ensure better continuity of care between visits. Most importantly,
it allows us to keep our hands and eyes where they belong: on your pets.
We truly appreciate your patience during these transitions. These improvements are
vital to ensuring Copake Vet continues to thrive and provide the excellent care you’ve
come to expect while maintaining the most thorough records possible.
There are several other exciting updates coming later this summer, but we will leave it
at that for now! I hope you and your pets enjoy the beautiful weather, and we look
forward to seeing you soon.
Warm regards,
Dr. Tyler
