Meet our newest veterinarian Dr. Emily Reilly!
We’re incredibly excited to announce that Dr. Emily Reilly will be joining our veterinary team very soon! Dr. Reilly is a true local, born and raised right here in East Chatham, NY, and her lifelong passion for animals started young. Her childhood was filled with a diverse array of pets, including dogs, chickens, ducks, sheep, rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, and even an iguana.
Dr. Reilly’s journey to veterinary medicine took a unique path when, at 19, she spent six transformative years in Guatemala. There, she managed a large animal rescue, caring for 320 dogs and 60 cats. This hands-on experience, working alongside a local veterinarian and communicating entirely in Spanish, solidified her dedication to animal welfare.
Academically, Dr. Reilly is highly accomplished. After earning an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and Applied Sciences, she considered a career in animal law. However, her love for direct animal care led her to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from SUNY at Albany, followed by her Doctorate from Cornell University in 2025.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Reilly enjoys a wide range of interests. She loves cooking and fishing with her husband, gardening, and spending time outdoors. She’s also a talented fiber artist, with cross stitch, quilting, and knitting among her favorite hobbies.
By adding Dr. Reilly to our team you will notice shorter wait times for appointments. With another vet on board, we’ll have more availability to schedule appointments, meaning your furry friend can get the care they need sooner.
It also means we’ll have more capacity for daytime emergencies (always remember to call ahead). When unexpected situations happen, having an additional veterinarian allows us to handle more urgent cases without overstretching our existing team. This can be crucial in critical moments, ensuring your pet receives immediate attention when they need it most.
We can’t wait for you to meet Dr. Reilly and see the wonderful contributions she’ll bring to our team and the community!
